Oleg Tolmachev, Eclipse Resources; Senior Vice President, Drilling & Completions: Mr. Tolmachev has served as Eclipse Resources' Vice President of Drilling & Completions since February 2013. Prior to this, he served as a Senior Asset Manager for Chesapeake Energy, where he was responsible for leading an asset team comprised of land, geology, drilling, resource development and operations for Chesapeake Energy’s Utica Shale projects in Ohio. Mr. Tolmachev previously held the position of Group Lead Completions, Mid-Continent Business Unit at EnCana Oil and Gas (USA) Inc., where he managed well completions and intervention operations in its Barnett Shale, Deep Bossier and East Texas Haynesville Shale business units. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Topic: "Effect of Lateral Geometry on Well Performance"

Rob Sutton is a petroleum consultant in Houston, Texas. He started his 35 year career with Marathon Oil Company in their Gulf Coast Offshore District in 1978.  He moved to Marathon's Denver Technology Center in 1985 where he worked in the Reservoir Management Department and developed Marathon's in-house nodal analysis software.  He moved with the technology organization to Houston in 2001 and retired from Marathon in 2014.  Rob has remained in the Houston area where he currently consults and is a Research Associate at University of Tulsa.

Rob received a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College.  He also holds an MS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  He has authored 28 papers for SPE along with 10 journal publications.  He wrote the chapter on oil PVT correlations in the recently updated Petroleum Engineering Handbook as well as coauthored a chapter in Gas Well Deliquification. Rob received SPE’s 2014 Production and Operations Award.

Rob was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer for the 2012-13 and 2015-16 lecture seasons.

Topic: Drilling Fluids Can Help Push the Limits of ERD Wells

Fred began his career as a Scientist at Brookhaven and Oak Ridge National Labs in the mid-70’s working on coal liquefaction and gasification and nuclear reactor safety, then moved to Dowell Schlumberger in Tulsa, OK to develop acidizing corrosion inhibitors and foamed fracturing fluids. Subsequently, he joined Amoco Production Company to carry out drilling fluids R&D and also served as Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.

After BP merged with Amoco, Fred joined M-I SWACO, a Schlumberger company, in Houston to continue drilling fluids research and provide technical service support. In 2011, he joined Occidental Oil & Gas Corp as the company’s Global Fluids Specialist, from which he retired at the end of 2015. Fred holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Physical Chemistry from New Mexico State University, and B.A. and B.S. degrees in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. He has authored more than 150 papers and holds a couple dozen patents on corrosion inhibitors, drilling fluid systems and completion fluid products. Fred served as SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2009-2010.
