This job requires successful building and maintaining of downhole tools including MWD, gamma, and mud pulse telemetry tools while providing supervision for the MWD/LWD operation at the well site and ensure quality data is provided to directional drillers and drilling engineering.   The engineer must be able to rig up/down onsite equipment and downhole tools while drilling. The engineer also must show a proficient understanding of wellbore survey process and accurate real-time data acquisition. Attention to detail is required to provide accurate daily and final well reports on services performed, maintaining MWD logs, and providing company with accurate data. Collaboration is expected with the on-site directional drillers to ensure BHA specification and MWD drilling optimization parameters are realized. The engineer also may be required to train less experienced MWD field personnel. Clear, concise communication is also key with representatives such as the company man, drilling engineer, and field supervisors.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Responsible for building and maintaining downhole tools including MWD, gamma, and mud pulse telemetry tools
  • Provides supervision for the MWD/LWD operation at the well site and ensure quality data is provided to directional drillers and customer
  • Responsible for rig up/down of onsite equipment and downhole tools while drilling
  • Understand the wellbore survey process and accurate real-time data acquisition
  • Responsible for accurate daily and final well reports on services performed
  • Responsible for maintaining MWD logs and providing customer with accurate data
  • Maintain accurate records of MWD equipment on well site

Qualifications:

 

  • High School/Secondary required, Associate or Technical School degrees preferred
  • Minimum 5 years required in drilling MWD/LWD engineering or maintenance role
  • Extensive knowledge of Tensor, GE, Tolteq, XXT legacy protocol MWD and directional drilling
  • Understanding of the dynamic downhole drilling environment
  • Must be able to execute detailed technical plans with minimum supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe Suites
  • Commitment to safety and the environment
