Jim is one of the founders and current Executive Director of the IADD. A 35+ year oilfield veteran, he has excelled in various roles for both operators and service companies, including operations (both drilling and completions), technical support, training, and business development. Jim has worked with and managed cross-functional technical teams and projects ranging from deepwater North Sea to shallow vertical wells onshore Colorado and North Dakota. He is currently President of GFE Management & Consulting, a multi-faceted energy consulting firm, in business for more than 13 years. Jim attended Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He is eager to promote the various aspects of the directional drilling industry and the impact that it has on the global energy industry.
Braxton is the Directional Drilling Coordinator at Concho Resources. With more than 24 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, he started his career at EPS (Environmental Protection Services) Engineering and Schlumberger Drilling & Measurements before joining Concho Resources in 2011. In his current position, he has developed and managed the Company’s horizontal optimization drilling program for their Permian Basin operations. Braxton currently serves on the IADD Board of Directors, as the Committee Chairman for the IADD Permian Basin Chapter, and the Boy Scouts of America’s (Buffalo Trail Council) Executive Committee and Board of Directors. He brings his knowledge, expertise and training to the IADD, which provides and encourages advanced development, training and proficiency in career progression; all of which is required to ensure those a successful career in the directional and horizontal drilling industry.
Bill has more than 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Trained as a petrophysicist, he has been involved in operations, sales and marketing and management in the wireline, directional drilling and, for the past 15 years, manufacturing of M/LWD collars. The MWD industry has developed from rocket science 20 years ago to a growing technology that has fundamentally changed the way wells are drilled and evaluated. The IADD should become a voice for this industry that furthers the knowledge of new technological advancements as well as be a source for information to help train new members of the drilling community.
Ed is previous Sr. Staff Drilling Engineer for Southwestern Energy Company. A graduate of Texas A&M University, he holds a bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering. His career spans over 31 years in onshore operations with such companies as Schlumberger, Conoco, DBS, Baroid Engineered Drilling, Dresser Drilling, Sperry-Sun Drilling, Enron O&G, Mobil and ExxonMobil. Ed has achieved impressive accomplishments throughout the years including four submitted patents, with one being accepted. He's authored two publications and various technical papers to his credit. His extensive and unique combination of experience in all phases of petroleum engineering, corporate management, and hands-on field operations make him one of the leading experts in exploration and development.
Blaine is a 30+ year oilfield veteran with Sperry Drilling, a part of Halliburton. His career has included roles in Operations, Technical Support, Strategic Planning, Sales, Marketing, and Product Launch. He performed technology portfolio analysis, acquisition analysis, corporate strategy planning, and market research in cutting edge technologies. His technical expertise is primarily in directional drilling, rotary steerables, drilling dynamics, and M/LWD. He has been involved in geosteering, horizontal drilling, extended reach drilling, coiled tubing drilling, and MPD / underbalanced drilling. He led the launch of the Geo-Pilot Rotary Steerable into the Gulf of Mexico and later became the Geo-Pilot Global Product Champion. Blaine is currently with Qittitut Consulting, LLC, helping clients increase revenues and margins through new product launches, M&A opportunity analysis, and strategy development. He has a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from LSU.
With over 18+ years in the industry, Greg is the Global Drilling & Completions Manager for Arawak Energy, Alberta Canada. He specializes in Specialty Drilling and Wellbore Construction Optimization and Completion Design of Multi-Laterals, SAGD and Re-entries. Has to his credit, various accomplishments in Technology and Process Development and has authored four technical papers to date. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden Colorado.
Farhod has been working for BICO Drilling Tools, Inc. for the last five years, where he is responsible for global sales and international marketing for downhole drilling motors. He has gained extensive experience in downhole technology through various seminars and internal BICO training courses, such as advanced directional drilling, RSS systems, and hands-on mud motor training, etc. He is also involved in organizing marketing materials, technical presentations, tradeshow exhibits and technical papers. Farhod's oilfield career began at the age of 16 working for an international project in Uzbekistan. He is a graduate of Webber International University and holds four international business degrees, including an MBA in International Business Management.
MSc. Rafael B. Martinez
MSc. Rafael B. Martinez is a Drilling Specialist at the ADCO-UAE Technical Center. An experienced drilling professional with significant knowledge, he has worked at several O&G companies in technical and managerial roles, such as Drilling Superintendent and Drilling Manager at PDVSA; Drilling Specialist at PEMEX; and Drilling Performance Manager for Petrolink. Rafael developed three US patents, authored multiple SPE papers and publication articles, and has been a speaker/chairman for multiple global drilling conferences (SPE, OTC, SPWLA, PE and petroleum exhibitions). He mentors engineers at the University of Zulia, Utrecht, and Texas A&M, is an SPE D&C Technical Editor, R&D Drilling Coordinator, and on the IADD Board of Directors (non-profit organization to enhance drilling and directional performance).
John (Shola) Okewunmi
Shola has been working in the oilfield, in the areas of drilling, completions, wellbore geosteering and formation evaluation, for more than 20 years. He has focused on land and shallow and deepwater planning and operational execution throughout his career. Shola holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master in Business Administration and a PhD. He is currently employed with Chevron Corporation and is assigned to one of their international business units. It's time to explore technologies to create value that will advance drilling exploration and production to extreme reach.
Daniel "Doc" Anthony
Doc is the founder and Chief Executive Officer for Guardian Oilfield Services. He began his directional career in 1990 at ENSCO Technology. Since that time, Doc has worked for multiple companies, including Dailey Directional, BecField, Radius, Maverick Directional and Weatherford International where he worked as a Field Engineer, Drilling Services District Manager, DD Technical Manager, MWD/LWD Operations Manager, Senior DD, Senior MWD/LWD Engineer, Vice President of Operations, and North American Manager for RSS/DD operations. He also started Modern Magnetics and Renegade Mud Motors to address the industry’s need for high performance downhole mud motors.
David E. Youngblood
David is currently with Wellbenders Directional Services. With 30+ years O&G experience, ranging from Directional Driller to President and COO, he has been key in the growth and expansion of various DD companies, with responsibilities for all aspects of the business including sales, planning, operations, finance, legal and administration. David's directional drilling experience includes the Gulf of Mexico, Tunisia, Texas, Louisiana, the Rocky Mountains and Canada. His areas of expertise include drilling and oversight of numerous types of wells including conventional directional wells, horizontals, casing and open hole whipstock sidetracks, multilaterals, deepwater drilling, and extended-reach drilling.
